Right to receive an assessment of the need for treatment within a specific time
An assessment of the need for treatment is a key part of your treatment. You are not entitled to receive any type of treatment that you desire right away; instead, a healthcare professional will assess your need for treatment and its urgency. The assessment must be based on medically acceptable criteria.
The assessment of the need for treatment is performed by an authorised healthcare professional. The assessment can be performed by a healthcare professional other than a doctor. They will assess the reason for coming to emergency services and the nature, severity and urgency of the symptoms based on preliminary information that you provide.
A healthcare professional must assess your need for treatment at the latest on the third day from your contact with the health station.
