By moving the information, customer matters can be handled in a more streamlined fashion. Suomi.fi offers information and services for various situations in life, such as health and medical care. The Choosehealthcare.fi site describes patient rights in cases of cross-border healthcare, meaning situations where a Finn needs medical care abroad or a foreigner needs medical care in Finland.

The content, describing how to choose a place of care, is suitable for Suomi.fi because the site provides citizens with information particularly in situations where they deal with various authorities,” says Terhi Tuokkola, planner at the Population Register Centre. Suomi.fi also contains information on the services provided by health centres and hospitals.

The Choosehealthcare.fi website focuses on cross-border healthcare and gets a new name

The Choosehealthcare.fi website will continue to give guidance on the use of health services abroad and in Finland. “The site offers information on the patient’s right to medical care abroad and in Finland as well as on the costs of treatment, reimbursements for treatment and healthcare in different countries. We instruct people who leave Finland to go abroad as well as those moving to Finland from abroad in all matters related to medical care,” says Mira Rantakeisu, planner at the Contact Point for Cross-Border Healthcare.

“From now on, the site will focus on the international aspects of healthcare. The transfer of information concerning the freedom of choice in Finland is the first step in shaping up the message of the site. The next step is to find a name for the site that better describes its international content,” Rantakeisu continues.

The website will also continue to provide information on Finnish healthcare to foreign clients.
